HOW TO SPEND 4 HOURS IN A SHIP WITH A TODDLER? | TALLINK SILJA

On our way to Åland Islands, we were hit by the fact that we're actually in a ship with a toddler. Which meant that he's old enough to actually want to do something onboard. Last time we were on the ship with D, he was five months old and we were on our way to Sweden. So prepare yourselves, here's our guide to surviving a ship trip with a toddler.

The Play Area
There are dedicated playrooms for small children on the ship, which is simply amazing. You can't just drop your kid there as there aren't any adults who work on the ship but you can get something for them to do in a ball pool and with the toys, they have for the children.

Moomin dance & meet up with the Moomintroll
Because the ship goes from Finland to Sweden, stopping by at Åland Islands they have their very own seal mascot you can meet and they have the Moomintroll onboard. My secret life goal is to wear that Moomintroll costume some day haha! Which I probably won't do but who knows, I might end up being a Moomintroll on a cruise ship. D went absolutely nuts when he saw the Moomintroll and it was amazing to see him that happy!

Dining
All the restaurants on the ship are super child-friendly so dining with the kids is made very simple. They also give some colouring sheets and pencils for the kids so the parents can enjoy their meals while their kids have something to do.

Wander around the ship
What I loved as a kid, was to wander around the ship. D seemed to be loving it too, running from another end to another almost knocking down elderly people. Whoops, sorry!

How have you spent the time on a ship with your toddler?

  2. LOVE the pic of you guys in the ball pit! Seems like a ship trip with a little one would be way more fun than going by car or plane because they can run around and explore. Sounds like you made it a very enjoyable experience for him. :)

    1. It was super enjoyable experience for him! Though, if it would have been adult’s only trip we probably would’ve gotten wasted haha
