Goals, those funny little things. Everyone has them, but not all necessarily achieve them. There are also dreams, but turning dreams into actual goals takes a lot of gut and commitment. Are you ready to change your dreams into goals and when the time is right, achieve them? Here's how I'm setting goals and actually achieving them, and I really hope you'll find this helpful so you can turn your dreams into goals and achieve them.

Figure out what is stopping you
We all have different dreams we could change into goals, but we won't because of the little voice inside of our head tells us not to go after what we want. Have you been in a situation like this? I sure as hell am. By figuring out what is actually stopping you really does help you to overcome that thing you believe is stopping you and boom, suddenly it disappears.
Let's imagine the reindeer, as they actually have balls to do what they want to do. They do not overthink about blocking the road, because in the summer it happens to be nice to walk on to and there aren't as many mosquitoes than there is in the forest. So their goal is to feel more comfortable. And they actually achieve it, by not letting anything or anyone to stop them for doing what they want in life.

Divide the final goals into a bunch of smaller goals
I'm all in for dividing my goals into smaller ones to achieving the big ones. You know, the success doesn't come overnight and that also means that dreams won't come true overnight. Unless you're very lucky. Taking it all in in smaller portions makes it easier to work your way towards to the bigger goal and then you'll be working towards it every single day.

So, how to make those goals?
Figure out what you want.
You want to have a career?
-> Figure out what you have to do to get it.
-> Do you have to study for it? Yes? Then figure out which school you need to get into.
-> Do you already have an education, but not a career?
-> Figure out how you can improve your CV, is there any additional courses you can take and apply for new jobs. Job hunting is ridiculously hard at this time we're having on this planet, but I believe you can get the job if you are ready to work for it.

When you know what you want, it's easier to make goals to work towards it. And there you have it above, a basic template I am using for reaching my goals.

How to achieve those goals?
Well you know, nothing falls down on your plate if you keep waiting for it to happen. So you need to get up and do the work. You need to get up and do the things that need to be done so you can achieve the goals you have made for yourself.

What goals do you have? What have you done in order to achieve them?

  1. I'm trying to be better about setting smaller goals that lead up to a bigger goal (so that I'll be more likely to follow through). I have a lot of business // creative BIG goals but I've been struggling to put systems in place to make them happen. ie. Smaller goals. How do you tackle this? Do you write them out to track them or anything? Always happy to hear ideas about how I can get my butt in gear, haha! :)

  2. I have to set goals and objectives at work using SMART criteria so it seems straight forward to me to use same principles in my private life - especially about setting timescales and like you breaking it down into smaller actions and thinking through the process. I hope you achieve your goals for this year. love Bec xx

  3. I love this post so much! I always struggle a little turning things I want and dream about into actual goals I can achieve, so this post was super handy and motivating!

  4. Such a great post - I’m definitely trying to break down some of my bigger goals to make them more manageable and less daunting!! Ultimately though I just need to go for it! Charlie xo

  5. I think you've hit the nail on the head there: divide your goals into smaller sub-goals. I find that doing this really helps to keep me motivated as I get those all important experiences of achievement.

You did an awesome job breaking this down into actionable steps. I feel like I get so overwhelmed with goals sometimes, but whenever I sit down and figure out an order of things to do, it always helps :)

  7. Such a great post, I love that you've broken all the points down.. so helpful! I really want to set some more goals for my blog this year now :)

  8. I always divide up my main goal into smaller ones. Example being with my weight loss, I wanted to lose a total of 28lbs. But I set myself the weekly target of 2lbs so I don't get overwhelmed or pressured on myself

  9. I love this post Jasmin! It’s so inspiring! Couldn’t agree more! I write lists constantly to keep me organised and help me reach my goals xo

  10. I really needed a post like this today! I'm trying to get my life organised and to achieve the things I want, but I have been overwhelmed by how much it'll take. However now you've inspired me to focus on each mini-goal at a time, work hard and make things happen! Thank you!
