HOW D IS HOLDING UP IN THE DAYCARE

I can't believe D's been in the daycare for three full weeks now. The transition into his new routines went surprisingly well, especially after we changed his routine at home a few weeks before he went in. You can read all about how we changed the routine for him of my post called "Our top tips for preparing your toddler in the daycare". So how D's been doing out there?

Making friends
We've been told that D gets along well with the other kids and it's so relieving to hear as a parent. D is super outgoing so it really wasn't even a problem but you know, us mums tend to overthink things when it comes to their children. Either way, he's gotten so many new friends already and I'm so very proud of him.

Eating
D refused to eat in the daycare for the first few weeks. They were a bit worried but he always ate super well after the daycare at home, so I believe it was just adjusting to a food that really doesn't taste anything. You know, they make the food super healthy in the daycare and when it's super healthy there usually isn't any spices so I guess that must've been the dealbreaker with our little one. He's used to eating food that tastes something and to be fair, it doesn't have to be salt or sugar to make things taste something, there are plenty of other ingredients and seasonings as well. Now that it's not so hot anymore, he's over with his teething process and he's gotten used to the daycare food - all have been good.

Naptime
D loves naptime. They told us he tends to sleep few hour naps during their naptime (and I don't even wonder why if the kid's been waking up at 5:30AM at home by himself lately). For the very first time, they had to put him to sleep on the childminders lap but otherwise, he's fallen asleep nicely on the bed.

Behaviour at home after the daycare day
Weekends are toughest for him. During the weekends he gets used to being at home, so Monday is the Mondayiest Monday there is for him. Otherwise, he's been happy little chap after the daycare but Mondays are his cranky days. Can't blame him, who really does enjoy Mondays anyway?

Conclusion
He's doing perfectly fine. I don't know why I was worried about him anymore. Perhaps I was more worried about me haha!

  1. Don't worry D - I don't like Mondays either!! Great update - it must be difficult as they move on to daycare and then eventually school! Charlie xo

  2. Aww, he's doing so well! And all the socialization will be so wonderful for him. :) I kinda love that his tastes were too refined for daycare food and he had to get used to it, lol. I wouldn't want all that bland food either, ha!

  9. I'm so glad he's settled in so well! Dougie went on a sleep strike when he started and didn't sleep or eat at nursery for the first few days while he was there, but now he absolutely love it - he seems to eat more there than he does at home, and he barely looks back at me when I drop him off!
