DAYCARE CALLING | A LETTER TO MY SON

My dear, sweet little potato.
Your time to begin in the daycare has arrived. Next week, you're going to meet with your new friends and I really do hope, with all my heart that everything goes well. I'm sure everything will go well, but you know - mum likes to worry about stuff.
During these one and half years, you've grown into such a wonderful social young man. So I know that I don't have to worry whether you're going to have friends or not. You're also very polite, you can say thank you and you are able to tell people when you're hungry, tired or just plain bored. Or when you need some extra cuddles or you want someone to read you a book. You're so clever as well, you can put food in your mouth with a spoon and you are able to play alone if needed. And damn, you can say a few words too! I'm proud of us, as together we've taught you things we wanted to teach you before you're starting in the daycare. But the most important, I am proud of you. And I will never stop being proud of you.

Starting in the daycare might feel a bit overwhelming and confusing at first but you're brave. I'm sure you won't even notice the time to pass by. And we've practised the daycare routine at home, so nothing in your routine isn't going to change. You're just in a different place but with the same routine. You're going to do so well and learn so many new things you can't even imagine just yet.

This is the end of one era but it's a new beginning for the next one ahead.
Just keep in mind my dear, that you are loved, you are important and you are the bravest little chap there is. And mummy and daddy are always loving you, more and more after each day passes by.
You're going to do so well.

  3. I totally understand how you feel. Both of mine are in daycare and my youngest went in at 4 months old. I tore me up! But she is happy and I'm happy and all you can do is your best. Stay strong mama.

  5. Such a sweet post. I work in a daycare (we call it nursery over here) and it's always worse for the parents than the child. Might take some time to settle in and get used to everything but it will happen eventually. All the best xx
