MY TOP TIPS FOR COMING UP WITH BLOG POST IDEAS

Coming up with blog post ideas is extremely hard, especially if you're not a newbie in the blogosphere. Oh, how I miss the days when I started this blog and had so much inspiration and ideas for what to write. Nowadays, some of those ideas might come by themselves but some might need a little bit of persuasion. Or more persuasion. Or a lot of persuasions.
Anyhow, my point is - there will become times when the ideas just don't come. You'll stare at the blinking cursor. Let me tell you, there's nothing to be afraid of that blinking cursor - you got this.
I wanted to share some tips for coming up with blog post ideas. It's funny though, I have been lacking some inspiration for a while now but now that I'm actually starting to adjust to a new season the knots begin to open up.

TAKE A SHOWER
When I'm feeling uninspired, I go to the shower. In case D is asleep or J is at home, haha.
Shower thoughts are brilliant work of art, I don't know if it's because of the sound of water humming in your ears or just the fact that you can let your brain to relax for a little while and just think without a rush in the world. My best ideas come in the shower. Last time, I came out and wanted to paint my old rocking horse. So take showers, let the ideas flow like the water.

USE PINTEREST FOR INSPIRATION
And by inspiration I mean inspiration. We don't want to be copying anyone right? Sometimes I find myself scrolling through Pinterest reading different lists of different blog post ideas and it actually helps me to come up with my own. It might be how some of them are worded or it might give me the basic idea of what I want my next blog post to be.

CHALLENGE YOURSELF
I'm one of these "CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!" - people and I do love challenging myself. This might not work for everyone but I work best under a pressure. I set a timer and I try to come up with 20 blog post ideas as quickly as possible. It's actually quite fun when you don't take it too seriously.

WRITE DOWN YOUR IDEAS WHEN THEY POP UP TO YOUR HEAD
It's good to have some old ideas floating around on different pieces of paper. I actually have a jar where I've collected random thoughts, inspirational things and blog post ideas. Whenever I need some inspiration for something, I look from the jar.

TAKE A BREAK
If it really starts to stress you out, take a break. A day, a week, a month - whatever suits you the best. But make sure you feel comfortable when you're returning back to writing. It's not fun if it's forced. And taking a break is always okay, if someone really wants to read what you write about, they'll wait. Remember that you're writing for yourself and not for the others, your well-being is what matters the most.

How do you come up with blog post ideas when it feels a bit too hard?

  1. I find reading peoples blogs wants me to write on my own. Seeing how people look at things, or disagreeing, or seeing a concept and thinking hey I want to try something similar. I love it! :)

  6. Although it is funny while taking a shower because you keep thinking about the topic so hard and what you want to write that you almost forget to get out of the bathroom XD

  8. Pinterest, travel, local events etc are what inspires me the most - I mostly write about places that I've been to so ideas comes fairly easy, its time that I most struggle with. I love the shower tip, that's good for my studies as well, I must try that!

  9. Hi there just wanted to give you a quick heads up and let
you know a few of the images aren't loading properly. I'm not sure why but I
think its a linking issue. I've tried it in two different internet browsers and both show
    the same results.

    1. Ran through several pages, in Chrome and Safari and I don’t see anything being wrong anywhere. So perhaps it’s an Internet issue, in your end?

  10. I'm extremely impressed with your writing skills
and also with the layout on your weblog. Is this a paid
theme or did you modify it yourself? Anyway keep up the excellent quality writing, it's rare to see a nice blog like this one nowadays.

    1. Thank you! I bought the template from Creative Market, between all the studies I didn't feel like playing with HTML & CSS now, though it's a plan.
