I'm kicking this year off with a bunch of clich├ęs, right? My New Year's resolutions and today I wanted to play with a thought about where I'm seeing myself in five years. I actually put a lot of thought into this one and I started thinking about this post before Christmas. I'm a spontaneous planner. I plan things, but as quickly as I plan them, I might change them up all over again. Who really knows where I'm going to be in five years? No one. I might have the time of my life with my family, I might have gotten into an accident and die or we might have had a divorce. These are things that can't be planned in any way, so today I'm sharing where I see myself in five years and trust me, it's not in the cemetery.

When I think about my family in five years, I see all three of us together. I also have this careful thought about all four of us being together (I'm not pregnant), but who knows where the life brings us. I see us buying the second apartment. I also see a bathroom where we can fit a bathtub. (Nice how I've planned all this out already.)
In five years we've been to the Maldives. The Maldives as a 10th-anniversary trip, as it'll be in 2020. Which I'm super excited by the way.

I've finally gotten accepted to a school. In five years, it has to be. Even though I've tried to apply for three years, last year I didn't as D was born at the same time and during Autumn I wasn't able to apply to school as there weren't any openings in the school I wanted. My studies last 4 years so in five years I might have already graduated, or be almost graduated or be still in school. Or, might be that I'm not in the school at all because no one is telling me what I'm doing wrong in the applying process. Not giving up though.

I've got up to August to think about what I'm going to do. But if I'm accepted to the school I'll do some random shifts at the same place I've been working for 3 years now. And if I won't be accepted I'm going to collect my "thanks for returning from vacation" - money and get the fuck out of there. Of course, after I've found a new job. I don't like it there after the co-operation negotiations so I'm going to get out as soon as possible, way or another. I used to love it, so that's quite sad. In five years, I hope I'll have a job in my own career.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

  1. You got me thinking about my 5 year plan! But it’s funny how life tends to never work out the way to planned :) may you embrace every surprise and blessings in the next 5 years and more!

  2. Such a amazing post darling. If you talk about job and travel, both of them are also on my priority in five years. As I'm getting serious about my carrier and travel maybe to NYC also on my 10th anniversary with my husband. Hope all your goals and your dream come true in around 5 years.

    Kintan XO,

  3. I love this and you have made me think considerably where I want to be in 5 years time! Scary thing is, it will come round so ruddy quick!!

  4. It's always great to have your goals in sight. Keeps you focused! Wish you the best and can't wait to see you accomplish it all

  5. Such a great post, it’s always good to have an idea of where you want to be in the future. I hope it all works out for you.

  6. I wish you all the best for your dreams and your plans may come true! As for myself, I would love to be a nomad travel around the world!

  7. Oh wow, this is deep stuff and I can see that you've been really thinking about your future. I should probably go trough similar process and post about it. But with 10-seconds brainstorming with myself I'd say that in five years I have graduated from both schools, hopefully I'm having couple of things that offer me my income - like a real job, own business and investments. I also hope that I have published a book or two. Maybe I could also be living abroad at that point - or at least have traveled more. :)

  8. Good for you! The one thing, looking back, I wish I'd done is have a five-year plan for after I graduated college. I only had one in high school for college, but then after...

  9. Sounds like a very busy time but also a time filled with love and accomplishment. I wish you achieve everything you want.

  10. good luck with everything, jasmin! I probably see myself with a business school degree & a published author!

  12. How inspiring! This is a really lovely post to make. I've always wanted to write something similar but such big goals for the near future sort of scare me at this point hahaha.
