"Let me love you a little more
before you're not so little anymore."

You mean the world to me, so I gathered around some things I want you to learn before you'll be oh, so grown up or even an adult. There's no rush, take your time.

I want you to learn about the diversity.
Diversity is a good thing, it's a richness. It would be a dull world to live in if everyone was alike and no one wasn't different from another. There are people who look different than you, there are people with different skin tone than you but remember my dear, you're never above them. We all start from the same line, follow our own journey wherever it takes us. There's no reason to belittle someone just because that someone is different than you.

I want you to learn about the world.
I want you to see the world. I want you to see all the mansions in Los Angeles to the huts made of mud in Africa. I want you to learn where people come from and why. Why we get snow and some might not. Why some might have never seen the sea and some have.

I want you to learn to appreciate what you have.
You've been blessed with a wonderful family around you. You get lots of love, support and you have people around you can count on. You've got the roof on top of your head, food available and hot water running, incredible school system and good health care system. They might feel like something taken for granted but don't ever take these things granted. Things aren't like this everywhere.

I want you to learn empathy.
After you've gone through the teenage stage where everything seems like it's either this or that and the world looks like black and white you'll hopefully learn some empathy. Perhaps even earlier. It's important to change your perspective and look at things from someone else's angle. Just so you'd understand better where they're coming from.

I want you to learn sympathy.
Compassion is a great skill to have and it'll take you for a long way. Understanding other people ups and downs and feeling them with them will grow your relationships to the next stage. Adore it.

I want you to learn feelings.
In this house none of your feelings is bad. You can scream and yell, be angry. You can be happy, full of joy, excited. Even sad and cry. I won't be denying you to feel things. No one will ever punish you for having emotions. Having emotions is a strength, not a weakness.

I want you to learn that you don't have to change yourself to be accepted.
Be you. You do you. You're amazing just the way you are and if someone makes you feel you're not good enough just the way you are they're not right people for you. If someone makes you feel bad about yourself, they're not the ones there for you. If someone is your friend only because they want something from you never giving anything back, they're not the ones for you.

I want you to learn media criticalness.
In the world we're living in, there are all kinds of news coming from each direction. Not all of them are things that are good to believe in. Most of them are pure nonsense. Follow the media you feel you can count on. But seriously, if you're reading Finnish MV-magazine ever in your life I'll cut your Internet access as I won't be raising you to be a racist.

I want you to learn to walk your own path.
Nobody else can choose it for you. Just so you know, whatever you decide to do we will always be there for you and support in anything you set your mind up to. If it was about moving out of home at the age of 16 or becoming a surgeon instead of a professional hockey player - we got your back. Whatever you decide to do won't change the way we see you and I know we'll be damn proud of you.

I want you to learn who you are.
Knowing yourself is so important. When you know who you are and what you want from yourself in your life you can do anything. Your mum and dad will always love you unconditionally, no matter what.

I want you to learn about birds and bees.
Not just yet though, but when you're older. I want you to know that all things considering sex and sexuality are normal and there's nothing to be ashamed to talk about things. But that's a talk for a little later. If you ask where babies come from, I'll tell you.

I want you to learn about money.
It doesn't grow on trees. Just because you don't have to worry about having the roof on top of your head or having the food in your fridge, I want you to learn about money. How it runs the world, how you have to work for it to earn it. It just doesn't fall off the sky and trust me, earned money feels so much better.

Oh dear, there are so many things I want you to learn and I hope you'll do, one day. As I tell you every single night at the bedtime - you're wonderful, you're the best, you're amazing and you're so very loved and you will get far in life.
