MY TOP TIPS FOR BULK WRITING POSTS

I told you before that I bulk write my blog posts. Or at least the ones I can write in advance. So what is bulk writing? I think it's writing more than one or two posts the same day. Bulk writing is something that is an essential for me to keep up with my blogging schedule and as I'm writing this one, I've already written two posts today and I've got one left to write today.
For me, it took quite a while to learn this whole bulk writing thingy. I did it from the scratch and I had no clue it was a thing until I saw a post someone else wrote about this thing called bulk writing and then it hit me. This is what I've been doing the whole time! So, now I knew what I was doing so I could call it something else than writing multiple blog posts per day haha.

I started doing this when I did daily blogging and I've gotten so much better on it. Though, one of my methods is quite dangerous, if I can use that word - you'll see what I mean by dangerous. It's pretty dangerous for the motivation but I'm weird in so many indescribable ways that this isn't even a new thing if you know me haha! Or if you've been following LTWJ for a while.

MAKE LISTS
I'm obsessed in a list and you should know it by now. I've got a list for anything. Heck, my Instagram story is full of lists sometimes. I'm insane when it comes to lists. I also love to do them as checklists so I can mark each task I've done. I'm usually writing the tasks on my beloved doughnut blogging notebook or I go advanced and do the checklist on Numbers app, which is a great tool Apple provides you for free if you've got the iPhone or MacBook. (Not an ad, I just love it genuinely.)
I list everything I'm about to do when I've got my writing days. I usually have four posts per day that I'm going to write and several photo shoots I've planned in the middle of my writings. There's nothing better than ticking off the stuff from the list. Am I being weird enough already? Can't believe my husband married me. Though, I'm not this organised in my personal life as I am at work or here in my blogging corner.

GET RID OF ALL THE DISTRACTIONS
I leave my phone to the kitchen when I'm in my procrastination mood and can't focus on anything. So I like to keep myself as distraction-free as possible, so I leave my phone in different room for silent. Sometimes, it's next to me and I don't know, it doesn't bother me but I'm way too productive when it's not anywhere near me.

MUSIC HELPS ME THROUGH ANYTHING
I love to do multiple things at the same time. When I write, I usually listen to music as well. Oh, and I sing too. It's ridiculous. Sometimes I find myself singing in Finnish whilst I'm writing my blog, which is in English. I told you I'm a bit of a weirdo. I find myself more in the flow when I can do things I love all at once. This doesn't work for anyone though, I know people who need nothing but a dead silence to focus on things. This is why I don't study in the library.

MAKE NOTES
I like to fall off from the topic. This has been my problem since the 1st grade when I was seven. I'm having a hard time on sticking to the topic. For the blog, it's not as bad to get off the road at the times but in essays, it's crucial to stick to the stuff you're writing about. Now, after I've graduated from upper secondary school and started to take writing more seriously I found out that notes help me the most. Not mindmaps, notes.
In these notes, I like to write the headline of the post and chapters where I'm dividing the post. You know, if you've been following my blog for a little while you see what I'm doing in most of the posts. They're all divided into little paragraphs that have their own point in them.

TAKE BREAKS BETWEEN THE POSTS
This is the one that was insanely dangerous. I mean, it's easy to start thinking that "I can finish it tomorrow..." and it's something that I used to do. Though, I've grown to love my lists so much that I can't fall asleep if I haven't finished the list on the day it was supposed to be finished. That's why I've got only four things on my list and I'm usually way ahead of my list so I don't get the quilt. Though, it's not as serious as I make it sound here. I've got this weird relationship with my lists and my head. It's hard to explain. But I do, take some breaks between the posts. They can last an hour or two, but I'll get shit done.

I'm not saying by any means that I'm professional in these type of things and my weird ways might not work with everyone, but I hope these helped you even a little. I've been asked multiple times about my ways of writing my posts and stuff, so I decided this little blogging series might answer some of your questions.

Have you tried bulk writing? What are your top tips for doing so?

  1. That's what I do: once I have the pictures or I know the issue I'm gonna talk about, I try to write as many as I can ;)

    1. Sounds wonderful! I usually take pictures afterwards, don’t know why, but I find easier to take pictures in the text than create text for the pictures - if you know what I mean :-) xx

  2. These tips are great! I've never been good at planing out posts myself. They always write themselves when I get inspiration.

  6. I love bulk writing too! Love your tips! I even save lots of Word documents on my laptop for the date the blog post is due and with the title of the post to encourage me to write. I’ve been a bit slack lately (oops), but have made a start on a handful of posts, hurrah!

  11. I would say I bulk write but I just kinda write when I feel like it! I have some Christmassy posts planned that I need to get writing and now uni has slowed down a tad in 100% gonna use your tips to bulk write! It's always good to have a post in the drafts for when you don't have time to write one!

  18. This is such a good idea. We have so many things to write and this could be a good way to have a day per week to do it all!

  19. Awesome post! Very useful tips! I often catch myself with a backlog of 5-6 posts to be composed. I isually start with a list of topics too, then transform them into paragraph and harmonize the whole thing at the end. It seems to be working well when I’m enjoying coffee in a local joint on a Sunday afternoon.

  20. You make me to think seriously about starting bulk writing, I must confess I was never able to do that. And in general I am a bad list follower. But now that my life has changed drastically, I must take into consideration writing multiple posts in some days if I want to keep my blog running.

  21. Great post. I've only just started blogging and I'm already struggling so I'm going to try having one day a week where I write 3 of 4 posts. Thanks for the tips! :)

  24. I bulk write too! I’m working full time as well as running my blog so i find that Sunday’s are usually my only truly free days for writing. I tend to write about 3 posts on a Sunday and then spend about an hour on an evening during the week proof-reading and tweaking them!

    Great post x

  29. I usually bulk write blog posts as well. Sometimes I just don't have the time to write a post so I note down all my ideas and things in my bullet journal through the week then write about 3 posts on Sunday mornings. It gets me through the week as I post three posts a week.
I totally agree with all your tips! I was nodding my head as I read.
