THE WINTER TAG

It's time for January's blog team blog post you guys!
This month, we decided to do a Winter themed tag and there are 11 questions about Winter or you know, Winter related stuff and we're all going to answer them in our own blogs. Winter is the best time of the year (if you ask me) so let's roll on to the questions!

// On aika tammikuun blogitiimipostauksen!

22 THINGS I’VE LEARNED IN 22 YEARS

"I don't know about you but I'm feeling 22
Everything will be alright if you keep me next to you
You don't know about me but I bet you want to
Everything will be alright if we just keep dancing like we're 22"

Yeah so, today is my 22nd birthday and I started this post with Taylor Swift lyrics. Seriously jazz, what has gone into you? To be honest, I don't feel like being 22. I feel like being 12 in 22-year-old's body. 22 is also such a funny number, isn't it?

NOTHING IN LIFE COMES ON A SILVER PLATE

This is something everyone should realise at least at some point in their lives. There are things you want, you need to work your ass off to achieve them. I wouldn't be where I am at the moment if I took things for granted.

SOMETIMES IT'S JUST BETTER TO LET GO

By this, I mean toxic people in your life. I've lost so many good friends during these years and I'm so sorry to be not sorry if I sound like a proper bitch right now, but I'm glad that those people aren't in my life anymore. Too much drama, too much negative energy.

IF YOU DREAM IT, YOU CAN DO IT

I spent 16 years of my life dreaming of living someplace else than where I used to live. I did it, I moved away and sorry to not be sorry about this either, I'm happier than I've ever been.

THERE WILL ALWAYS BE THINGS YOU CAN'T AFFECT

This one I learned in Summer 2015. There are things where you can't affect and you just need to accept them.

 READ BOOKS

For me, this has been so close to my heart. Nowadays, being busy with blog and work and everything I haven't had a proper time to read books. That feels so awful. Reading is so important as you might know and I prefer actual books instead of e-books or books you can listen to, so I really need to get my reading game back before all books disappear to the Internet.

LIFE IS TOO SHORT FOR SUGARCOATING THINGS

I used to sugarcoat my sayings so much in my earlier years. I mean, why I can't just be honest and say my opinions out just the way I feel? I realised this a couple of years ago and I've never been happier. Life is too short for sugarcoating. In certain situations. Not whenever or where-ever, but in most places.

SONGS WILL GET RUINED

When things happen in my life, I tend to listen to music while thinking about them. There're a few songs that I'm not able to listen to anymore because they bring back so many sad memories. Thank goodness, there will always be new songs.

 BEING WEIRD IS OKAY

I'm so weird and it's okay.

LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO WORRY WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK ABOUT YOU

This one I learned when I moved from a small town to the big city. Life is seriously too short to worry what other people think of you.

THERE WILL ALWAYS BE SOMEONE WHO WILL TALK SHIT ABOUT YOU

Sad, but true. There will always be someone who is jealous of the things you've achieved, but thankfully - it has nothing to do with you. I mean, why should I feel bad about it? There you go, talk, talk & talk - I can give you something to talk about.
I know pretty much everything there's people saying about me, especially in my old hometown, but guess what, I couldn't care less. If I hear something that really amuses me, I usually do something that makes them talk about it even more. That's my own little game I enjoy playing.

LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO BE AN ADULT

Don't get me wrong here. I know there are responsibilities like bills and other stuff and there will be even more of those now when having a child, but guess what - life is too short to be an adult. I've always secretly hated when people say that they can't do certain things because they're adults now. Living on their own and being a certain age. Guess what, you can! You can go to toboggan slide during Winter, as an adult and have fun. You can go to amusement park and ride all those rollercoasters, eat a bunch of cotton candy and then throw it all up. That's life. Being adult don't make you have to stop living your life.

TRUE FRIENDS WILL STICK WITH YOU NO MATTER WHAT

Jenni, Petra, Teemu & Jere, this is for you.

 YOUR MOM IS USUALLY RIGHT

No matter how much I hate to admit it, that's the way it is.

I DIDN'T NEED A FATHER TO GROW UP AS A PROPER HUMAN BEING

For me, growing up without a father was hard. I thought I needed one because everyone else seemed to have one too. I felt so awful for not having one. Oh, and look at me now - here I am, as a proper human being, living my life, not giving a damn.

THE LITTLE THINGS ARE THE ONES THAT MATTER

In everything.

 FOOD IS NOT MY ENEMY

I've never been diagnosed with an eating disorder but I guess I've always had one. I've also realised that food is not my enemy. I've also noticed that even though I was forced to eat during primary school because "children of Africa are starving and I'm ungrateful enough to leave a food on my plate" that noise is not in my head anymore if I'm finished with eating. I don't also suffer from panic attacks anymore, when there is you know, something on my plate that I've got no clue of what it is.

HIGH HEELS ARE NOT FOR ME

I'm just not made to walk with those things. Sneakers, always and forever thank you.

LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO BE FIT

I mean, there are people who love to get fit and being on a diet and spend countless hours at the gym. That's not for me. I'm not overweight, I walk a lot and I eat healthily, that's all I need in my life.

NEVER GIVE UP

If you want something, work for it.

NOBODY HAS IT ALL FIGURED OUT

I have never had it all figured out. Life is so much more exciting when you haven't got it all figured out.

TAKE A LOTS OF PICTURES

This has been my motto ever since I got my first camera.

 ALWAYS FOLLOW YOUR HEART

There have been a few times when I didn't follow my heart. It's not something that I regret about, but it's something that keeps me thinking how my life would be now if I had followed my heart instead of my brain. It tears me to pieces sometimes, but I know I've made all the right choices.

NEXT HAUL

I'm a bit late from the party, but I discovered Next in December. I found out that they're selling some of the most adorable baby clothing out there and I couldn't resist ordering some bits and bobs for Dino from there. The way I found out about Next is pretty simple; I'm following some people over at Instagram who had bought stuff from there, so at one Tuesday evening home alone, I decided to see what they have to offer. Also, I knew that Dino's little wardrobe doesn't have that many pants/joggers in it, so those were needed too. I also bought all of the clothing in size 68-74cm, just because babies grow up so damn fast. Let's see what I found!

These adorable dungarees were the first thing that popped right in front of my eyes. They're absolutely adorable. I can't even stand how adorable they are. I can imagine my little creature to roll on the floor wearing these. So freaking adorable. They were only 12€, so that's not bad for dungarees.

I've been obsessing over the animal prints so badly lately, in baby clothing, and if there's a bear in it - I will buy it. I've got no idea where this is coming from but you know, I'm just going with the flow. These were 9€ and I can't wait to see them on Dino. Holy potato, he's going to be a fashionable little man.

As I said, if there's an animal in it - I will buy it. These elephant joggers did not make an exception this time haha! They were too adorable & they came in 2-pack so for two pairs of joggers, 11€ isn't much. Such a bargain.

Aren't they adorable?

MY TRAVEL BUCKET LIST

"I haven't been everywhere,
but it's on my list."

It's been a while since I've done a proper travel post and now that I'm finally inspired and up to it, I decided to share my lifetime travel bucket list with you. It's such a fun list, it keeps growing every time I lay my eyes on it. So this is more like places I want to visit before I die kind of a list instead of an actual bucket list - because my budget is kind of tight at the moment so it might take a while to see all these locations.

OUR HONEYMOON ROADTRIP

This is the first thing on my travel bucket list. As you might know, we went to Spain last summer after our wedding just because we needed two weeks off from life lol. We've got all planned and savings started for our little family to take a road trip through the US. Although, we're not so sure yet whether we're going to rent a car or are we going to fly from destination to another. We've planned our trip to start from NYC, you know - shopping and having pizza for a couple of days, visiting WTC memorial and stuff. Then we're heading to Florida to see if there are any relatives around and Disney World. Then, of course, the must visit Los Angeles with all those tourist attractions and last few weeks of our 1,5-month trip we're going to spend in Hawaii.
Yeah, all planned. Now there's just the money left to save lol! Might take a while, though. But that would be the ultimate honeymoon dream. But this is definitely something we're both dedicated saving for.

MALDIVES

I just need to visit there before the water level rises too high and these beautiful islands don't exist anymore. I've heard that there's nothing to do over there, but then again - two weeks in the middle of the ocean with white sand, palm trees, and the sun is like heaven on Earth to me. Just enough for me. That's a place I will visit sometime soon.

CAPE VERDE ISLANDS

Okay, I might have a little obsession towards islands. But what can you say? I'm a 100% beach girl. I love the fact that there's hot sand everywhere. I love the ocean breeze and salty water in my hair. And yeah, I live in a country that doesn't offer me what I need to satisfy my need of beach. That's it, I'm moving to Santa Maria.

* picture from here *

CANCÚN, MEXICO

Oh I once followed this girl over at Snapchat and she spent three weeks in Cancún and I absolutely fell in love. Nothing more to say.

BERLIN, GERMANY

I visited in Berlin back in Spring 2015 and it was absolutely wonderful! Although, it was with two close friends. I'd love to take J there with me next time I visit and I know I'll visit there someday.
Fun fact about that picture; my uncle didn't believe I took that photo myself during our trip lol.

* picture from here *

LONDON, UK

I'm ashamed to admit that I've never been to London. It's kind of weird because I've changed planes on Heathrow so many times, but I've never actually been to London. That needs to be fixed and someday, I can say that I've been to London. You know, more than at the airport for 4 hours or so.

* picture from here *

ICELAND

During late 2016, I felt this massive need to travel to Iceland and that need has not gone away. So now, it has earned its place on my bucket list. Can't believe I've never been to Iceland before and it's so "close" you know. Few hours on a plane.

So there was a little sneak peek to my little (or not so little), travel bucket list.
What's on yours?

5 WAYS TO FIND MOTIVATION FOR BLOGGING

You know the feeling when your motivation for blogging just suddenly disappears?
I've got 5 ways to help you with that.

FEELING SO 35 WEEKS PREGNANT

Is it safe to say that I kind of would like this to be over already?
We're officially 35 weeks pregnant today and there are two weeks left until the baby is fully cooked. We took some baby bump pictures yesterday and it made me think that we should've done it much earlier than at 35 weeks pregnant. I mean, I love my body at the moment but holy potato I looked like a whale in most of the pictures. Otherwise, we had so much fun. Can't wait to get that baby out and take pictures of him.

EGGPLANTS WITH MOZZARELLA & SALAD

We've been trying out some new dishes lately.
It has been super refreshing, to be honest. Usually we end up making pasta or macaroni or something else and I was more than excited to try out something that doesn't include any kind of meat. J had a few concerns because he hadn't eaten eggplants before, but even he enjoyed this dinner.

EGGPLANTS WITH MOZZARELLA & SALAD
(serves 4)

INGREDIENTS:

- 3 eggplants split in two
- 4 tablespoons of olive oil
- salt & pepper
- 3 Ambrosi mozzarellas
- 4 tomatoes
- fresh basil

for the salad:

- salad
- cucumber
- basil
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil

HOW TO ROLL WITH IT?

1. Heat the oven to 200°C degrees. Rub some olive oil to the eggplants, season with salt & bake them in the oven for 20minutes so they'll get softer.
2. Slice the mozzarella & tomatoes, place them on the eggplants and bake them in the oven about 5 minutes or as long as the mozzarella has melted.
3. Put some basil on the top, prepare the salad - serve with fresh bread and you're ready to go!

Super simple & delicious.

BABY’S FIRST BOOK | DESIGN LETTERS

Now that we've passed the Christmas and the Holiday season when everyone wants to buy gifts for everyone, even if it was an unborn person yet I believe it's safe to say that we're having a boy. Gosh, it has been so hard to hide it for this long, even though my mum and grandma has been telling me all the time it is a boy. But yeah, I wanted to avoid all this Holiday fuzz and having those unnecessary baby blue coloured gifts haha!

LUSH SLEEPY BODY LOTION

J got me a gift card for Lush earlier last year and I saved it for the Christmas range so I could get something for Christmas. I had a bit of a trouble using the gift card because Lush UK won't accept online gift cards and I wasn't sure what to purchase from their Finnish website. You see, all the pots of their products are a bit more expensive and smaller here than they're in the UK, so I wanted to be sure on which products to use it.

Anyways, I got myself this lovely little pot of Sleepy body lotion because I was interested in trying it out. I've seen reviews of it in plenty blogs so obviously, I knew that was the next body lotion I wanted to try out. Before I had this Dream Cream and I haven't quite finished it yet so maybe there was no need to buy a new body lotion at all.

This Sleepy body lotion smells absolutely wonderful. It smells soft lavender and usually everything I've ever bought in that scent haven't been admiring me at all. This one is a difference because the scent is so soft. It doesn't really jump onto your nose or anything, it just floats by it. If you know what I mean.

The colour of the product is also so adorable, it's this light purple which I've been absolutely loving at the moment (don't really know why, though). I've used this body lotion to moisture my belly and Lush has done a pretty good job to keep those stretch marks away!
I literally have none of those. Or then again, it might be my skin in general - but who knows? I've been throwing a bunch of moisturising body lotions on it.

Have you tried this body lotion?

PREGNANCY BRAIN IS A THING

Before I go deeper into this whole pregnancy brain situation, I have a need to say that I've always considered myself as you know, a smart person. Or you know, I've never felt this stupid in my whole life. My problem-solving game has always been on top but nowadays I feel like my brain is completely off. I've been good at concentrating, I've understood what people have said to me and I've understood what I've read. Before I got in my third trimester, I thought that pregnancy brain is not a thing. Or well, at least with me. But I was so wrong. I was as wrong as a person can be.

MY SKINCARE ESSENTIALS

I had this feeling. I had this feeling that it's time for a change. I don't know why, really, but I believe it has something to do with this "new year, new me" bullshit. So what did I change? I changed (with the help of my husband of course) my blog theme and I feel so refreshed. It's those small things you know.

MY SKINCARE ESSENTIALS

I have to be honest here before I start this post. Before I turned 20 I literally didn't give a shit about skincare or you know, cleaning my face before going to bed or so. That's so gross. Well, a year or two older and wiser, I've started caring. I've never had any pimples on my face or anything, but just so you know, keeping the face clean is just as important whether you have them or not.
I've been suffering from dry skin for my whole life and now I'm going to share a few essentials I have to keep this face looking as good as it does. Or well, I don't know about the face but the skin in it.

LUSH SKINDRINK FACIAL MOISTURISER

This facial moisturizer has been the absolute savior for my dry Scandinavian skin. Especially during the Winter time when it gets cold and everything dries up in seconds. I usually apply this on my face during the evening, because at the mornings I simply didn't have time to do so. Now when I'm on my Winter vacation + maternity leave, I've been using it at mornings too knowing that I can leave it to sink into my face as long as I want, because of most of the mornings - I'm not going anywhere.

LUSH DREAM CREAM & SLEEPY BODY LOTION

These two I absolutely love. How am I feeling that this will be another Lush post in the blog, by the way? The Dream Cream has been with me for a while now and it's been so good to me. I usually use these body lotions after a sauna or just after showering. Oh and I don't know if it's from moisturizing or from what, but I've got no stretch marks on my stomach even though I thought they would be a thing during the pregnancy. But if it's from moisturizing I swear these two has done their job pretty damn well!

THE RITUAL OF SAKURA MAGIC BODY CREAM

Okay, I know this is a body cream but I'm using it as a hand lotion. My hands have gotten so dry lately and I've literally tried everything. This seems to work, so I'm going to keep using it. It smells absolutely wonderful and does wonders for the dry spots, especially in my hand area.

Do you have any skincare essentials?

MY HOME OFFICE SPACE

So this is where all the magic happens!

We had an unexpected Sunday inspiration moment back in December and we went and bought a new desk to our little office corner in our apartment. This time, we didn't head to Ikea as a first thing when we were looking for a new desk. We tried something different instead and chose one from Jysk. It was such a refreshing change. Almost all our furniture are from Ikea and now we've had this little "growing up" moment and we've tried to look stuff for our apartment from elsewhere for a change.

We found this desk at a sale, it was only 70€ and that was such a great find! Desks are usually pretty expensive so I'm really happy that we found a pretty one with such a decent prize.

I find myself so inspired working at this little corner of mine. I call it my little creative corner. That grid actually used to be a grid basket we found from Bauhaus. J just took it to work and made a wonderful wall piece of it. I'm absolutely loving it. At first, I was thinking to put some Polaroid pictures in it, but then I found that wonderful free printable of a calendar from Pinterest, so I placed that there instead of those pictures. For the pictures I found a new location and I placed them hanging from that wonderful light garland.

The light garland and those succulents are from Ikea and yes, we stopped by Ikea during our little trip too! It was right on the way so we couldn't resist. Those succulents were 5,99€ and the light garland was 9,99€.

I'm so happy with this little space of mine! I would absolutely love to have a desk lamp somewhere close, but at the moment I believe I'm going to do just fine with the garland and a couple of candles.
It's amazing how a little change can make one feel so much more inspired! This is a definitely a place where I'll be hanging most of my days before Dino is born.

Want to know how to make one of those chunky wool blankets? I did a post about it - here

OUR 6TH MATERNITY CLINIC APPOINTMENT

We had our 6th maternity clinic appointment yesterday, and it was also the last appointment with the nurse who's well... Pretty much all over the place. That's just said nicely. She kind of talks so much that she can't remember what she has asked 5 minutes before, I mean - she asked three times where we live during the appointment. But yeah, we scheduled a new appointment with a new nurse to 2 weeks from now, so maybe the new nurse won't be that all over the place all the time.

LUSH BIG CONDITIONER

I did something weird. Something that I haven't done before. I bought a hair conditioner bar! So exciting and new to me. I've always been a bit concerned about these hair product bars, been wondering how to apply them to my hair and when there will be enough and so on. But then I did it, I bought one.

LUSH BIG HAIR CONDITIONER

As you might remember from October last year, I reviewed this Lush Retread conditioner and I wasn't enjoying using it. I mean, it was good for my hair and my hair felt awesome afterward. I just simply hated the fact that the Retread conditioner came in a pot. A pot. So unuseful.
This one, instead, is a bar. When I was purchasing this I thought myself that how can one be so into unuseful products. I mean a soap bar, I'm not a fan of soap bars either - except, I believe I have fallen in love with this one.

Look at it, it's adorable. It fits perfectly into your hand, so when you soak it in the water you can still keep it in your hands. Unless you try to try whether it's slippery or not. So how I've been using this? I've just casually soaked it in the water and rubbed it in my wet hair. As simple as that. Even though I can't feel if it's everywhere and I can't feel how much I've used this one, but I bought it back in November and it's still here so I would say that this one lasts a quite while, to be honest.

"A sensationally-scented solid conditioner that's big on volume and shine. Fine sea salt adds
softness and body, and glycerine helps retain moisture. Protein-rich toothed wrack seaweed helps make
your hair more manageable. A squeeze of fresh lime and lemon juice get to work on adding gloss by helping
the cuticles to lie flat and reflect light. Work the bar between the hands before applying a small amount into
wet hair; a little goes a long way."
- Lush

I've fallen in love with this one, even though I had my concerns about its looks - but hey, you don't judge a book by its covers, don't you? It smells wonderful, it makes my hair feel so amazing. I don't feel like changing a hair conditioner in a while now.

MY BLOGGING GOALS | JANUARY 2017

Hi, everyone!

How are we doing today? For today's post, I've thought it would be nice to go through a few goals I've planned to achieve this month. This early year is going to be so hectic and different and so will be my monthly goals. The year 2017 will start with goals that I'm not going to demand myself to achieve. I'll hope that I'll achieve them. Because with the baby, I don't think I've got that much time to concentrate on achieving blogging goals, to be honest.

DIY: HANGERS FOR BABY CLOTHES

Do you know the feeling when you're trying as hard as you can to find something, but you're not able to find it? I've been through Google so many times during these past months and I suddenly became to a realization that I wasn't able to find what I was looking for.

So what is it all about?
Hangers for baby clothing.

Of course, there's different types of them, wooden and ones that are made from plastic but I just wasn't able to find ones that would look appealing to my eye. I had a problem and I created a solution for it. I did them all by myself.

Now that I've been on maternity leave, I have been struggling with the fact that I've got nothing to do. Absolutely nothing. I'm the one that is used to wake up for work every single morning and go to do stuff, now I don't have any specific routines in my life anymore. So I've been filling my days with a bunch of DIY stuff.

So what did I do? I went to a craft store and found all that I needed for my little project. I bought 2 packets of 2.00mm aluminum wire (4,95€/each), a pack of pens and J brought me some wire cutters and pliers from his workplace.

Then I just casually shaped them like clothes hangers and I'm so happy with the result!

What do you think of these? Aren't they absolutely adorable?
