MIDSUMMER CELEBRATIONS

I took my family to my favourite place, also known as a forest. I also forced them to wear white clothing. I had a camera stand with me, and a friend who was behind the camera and we managed to create some wonderful pictures of the three of us.

OH, THE MAGICAL MIDSUMMER

Happy Midsummer everyone! Today, I'm going to share with you some spells we Finns tend to cast during the Midsummer.
Midsummer is truly the most magical time of the year.

REINDEER POSTCARDS FROM THE FINNISH LAPLAND

I've visited in Lapland only once in my life. It's funny though, would think we had travelled there with the family during the Winter like the most of Finnish families do but not until I met J and visited his grandparents for the first time. I was promised snowy trees, Northern Lights and reindeers.
I didn't see Northern Lights, as it was too warm.
I didn't see reindeers anywhere, as they were locked up in their fencing.
Snowy trees, those there were plenty.

SELF-CONFESSED MAGIC PANTS

I'm going to begin this post by saying out loud what we're all thinking about; WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING JASMIN!!? -YES, this is an outfit blog post. I haven't done these since the days I used to blog in Finnish. Though, to be fair to myself I haven't been really comfortable in front of the camera in ages. But yes, guys and girls - meet me myself and I and my self-confessed magic pants.

MY TOP TIPS FOR A 20-HOUR CAR JOURNEY WITH A TODDLER

We recently took a 20-hour road trip with our toddler and now I'm here telling you how to survive from one. I mean, if you're smart enough, you'll fly from Helsinki to Tromso. It's a one hour flight.
But if you want to do something a bit more memorable, you take a road trip up North. Sooo, how did we survive?

TROPICAL YOGHURT SMOOTHIE | SUNDAY SMOOTHIE

Another Sunday, another smoothie. This time, I decided to do something different and freeze the main ingredients before throwing them all in a blender. It gave the smoothie a slushy vibe, to be honest, and I absolutely loved it. Also, this one is tasted by D, the hubby and my brother and I got three yesses for sharing this one over on the blog.

TURNING THE SIDE TABLE FOUND FROM TRASH TO A WINE BOTTLE HOLDER

Ever since we got back from Norway, I've had this motivation for a change inside of me. Also, I've been inspired with plenty of new home projects (I'm growing potatoes on our balcony, for fuck's sake) and I'm absolutely loving this feeling. Last month, we had this large dumpster thingy in our yard where people were able to throw all the stuff they didn't need anymore or wanted to use anymore and while we were taking some of our trash in the dumpster (the leftovers from our renovation) I saw this cute side table in the corner of the dumpster.

ENTRANCE EXAM & STRESS, WHAT DID I LEARN ABOUT MYSELF?

If you've been following me on my social media channels, like Instagram and Twitter, you know what kind of enormous stress I went through up until my entrance exam day at the end of May. It was absolutely ridiculous. I was hardly sleeping, eating and I blamed myself for every moment spent doing something else than studying. It was absolutely awful.

ARCTRIC-ALPINE BOTANICAL GARDEN | TROMSØ, NORWAY

I did my research about Tromso pretty well and knew that Arctic-Alpine Botanical Garden was a must place to visit. There is plenty of flora that I'm not allergic to, like conifers, lichen & bryophyte. Ah, our arctic flora is just perfect, if you ask me.

BANANA SMOOTHIE | SUNDAY SMOOTHIE

Bananas, those funny little things. They're actually surprisingly healthy, even though its said that they can make you gain some weight. Though, I'm here to start your Sunday morning with a refreshing banana smoothie, with only 3 ingredients to kick-start your day!

MORNING AT TELEGRAFBUKTA | TROMSØ, NORWAY

I feel like I keep repeating myself for the fifty millionth time throughout all these blog posts about our trip to Tromso, Norway - but seriously, I didn't have in my mind that it would be so warm up there. The Gulf Stream was definitely on our side during the trip. Although, the forecast wasn't. It promised rain for the whole week even a day before we left home, so obviously, we had packed warm clothes with us. Next time we need to pack our summer gear too, just in case and see the whole car explode from all the stuff there is.

MAY VIA INSTAGRAM

Instagram-wise, my May game was on point if I can say so myself. The pictures from Tromso have lifted my feed on a completely new stage of which I'm a bit worried at the moment, as I'm sure as hell not able to get this beautiful pictures anywhere else. + I haven't planned any new travels if a quick visit to Stockholm doesn't count in July.
I'm afraid I'm going to flop if I post something after all these. And that's bad, I have no clue how to get back to normal anymore.

FJELLHEISEN | TROMSØ, NORWAY

GUYS, we did something so freaking cool! We went on top of a mountain. We didn't climb there on our own, although that's something I've planned to do one day as this wasn't sure as hell the only time we'll visit in Tromso. A mountain we went, is called Storsteinen and it's 421m above the sea level. I can tell you, the view was pretty damn amazing.

AVOCADO SMOOTHIE | SUNDAY SMOOTHIE

HEY LOVES
Welcome to my Summer series called "Sunday Smoothie"! So through the June and July each Sunday, I'm going to share a new smoothie recipe with you. This is something I'm super excited about because D and I have been experiencing with different smoothies. So today, I'm going to share an avocado smoothie recipe with you.

BLOGGING GOALS | JUNE 2018

AS IF it's June already!? How the time seems to be flying! We're officially in the middle of the year.
It's the time of the month when I'm sharing my blogging goals for the month, so let's roll onto them already, shall we?

THE AVOCADO PROJECT #2

SO! I've named the avocado seed from the previous Avocado Project - post, and his name is now Herbert. Lovely Zana suggested Mandy & after a week Herbert got a friend called Mandy, so welcome to the lives of Mandy and Herbert.
They have two other buddies as well, but they'll get along if Mandy or Herbert dies. So. Let's roll!

THE ARCTIC CATHEDRAL | TROMSØ, NORWAY

What comes to your mind when you first hear the name, "Arctic Cathedral"?
For me, I thought of this beautiful place on the top of a mountain or right at the peak of a fjord. To be honest, I'm not sure what my exceptions were for the Arctic Cathedral but I was absolutely blown away by its beauty.

15 MONTHS | DINO

15 months... I hate the title, as I'm not the kind of person who refers to their children age with months after the one year mark has been passed, but "1 year and 3 months | Dino" as a title sounded a bit tacky in my own ear, so 15 months it'll have to be.

POSTCARDS FROM TROMSØ, NORWAY

Tromso is beautiful, in its own way. The buildings out there doesn't differ a lot from the ones in Finland but it has a beautiful vibe with all the mountains peaking in for every other picture.

ONE IN A MILLION | KATE SPADE

The boys went off the hook with the Mother's Day gift this year. Though it didn't arrive for us before our trip to Norway so I didn't receive this one on Mother's Day to be exact and if you ask me, saying "Happy Mother's Day" would have been enough. D had helped J to pick up a perfect necklace (or so they say, I'm amazed by my 1-year-old's abilities to choose things) and it's absolutely perfect.

FEELS WEIRD TO STAY IN SOMEONE ELSE’S APARTMENT | TROMSØ, NORWAY

Airbnb's are funny in their way. You basically stay in someone else's apartment or house. You are a guest for the real people, not in a hotel. The feeling when you pull up to a strangers yard is absolutely surreal. I wanted to elaborate these feelings more in this post, as this Airbnb is where we stayed for our vacation in Tromso. You know, just walking to a random door opened by the people you don't know and you're staying with them for a while. So freaking weird but at the same time, it's refreshing. Meeting new people is refreshing.

HOME SWEET HOME | SUNDAY CHAT

We got home from Lapland a week ago and I'm pretty much thinking about returning there during the Winter time. I wasn't aware that I could find a place in this side of the planet I'd fell in love with as much as I've fallen in love with everything we saw during our little road trip. It's such an amazing feeling. I'm wondering how amazing everything would look during the Winter?

CHEAP & COSY AIRBNB | OULU, FINLAND

During our road trip, we didn't want to drive up North straight away for 15 hours, so we booked a room from Oulu via Airbnb to stay overnight. The location was wonderful, it wasn't too far from the road E8 which goes from South to North and the hosts were absolutely wonderful!

WHAT’S IN MY BAG? | NORWAY EDITION

Going to North is one of those trips where you need all four seasons of clothing with you as you can't really know how the Spring behaves. I did try to follow long-term forecasts about the weather in early May in Tromsø and at the moment when I'm writing this post, it's been looking okay for us.
By the time this post will be published, we've already been there. But what did I have with me?

POSTCARDS FROM KALAJOKI, FINLAND

PHEW! What a road trip we had. And yes, more about that later as for now I am here to share a quick stop from our journey to Lapland.

We stopped at Kalajoki and took a little morning walk on the beach when driving back home. Kalajoki is located in Western-Finland and its famous from its beach. Though I don't really know what I was expecting; but it definitely doesn't beat Yyteri beach in Pori, Finland. I'd say Kalajoki was a bit of a disappointment for me.

10 THINGS EVERY MUM SAYS EVERY DAY | HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY

It's Mother's Day today here in Finland and to celebrate that I decided to gather some things I'm sure as guilty of repeating multiple times a day. Let's have a laugh together, shall we!

WHAT’S IN D’S BAG? | NORWAY EDITION

I'm so excited about this blog post. I don't know why, but I'm buzzing. I guess it's because I've never shown what's in someone else's bag before. Either way, D is having a shitload of stuff with him. You know, babies. They need so much everything. I tried to keep it simple though.

CHICKEN AVOCADO PASTA | QUICK, DELICIOUS & TODDLER APPROVED

I wanted to share D's favourite lunch with you guys; chicken avocado pasta. This patch will last for three days, if you know, the toddler is the only one who is eating it.
If you're wondering where's the salt, there won't be any. It's no good for a tiny person's kidneys so I've basically had to drop all the salt out of our foods. It does good for us though.

MY TOP TIPS FOR COMING UP WITH BLOG POST IDEAS

Coming up with blog post ideas is extremely hard, especially if you're not a newbie in the blogosphere. Oh, how I miss the days when I started this blog and had so much inspiration and ideas for what to write. Nowadays, some of those ideas might come by themselves but some might need a little bit of persuasion. Or more persuasion. Or a lot of persuasions.
Anyhow, my point is - there will become times when the ideas just don't come. You'll stare at the blinking cursor. Let me tell you, there's nothing to be afraid of that blinking cursor - you got this.

DIY: A TEEPEE FOR YOUR TODDLER

Last Monday, I had this insane inspiration to build a teepee for my little one. You know, the ones you can buy from the store cost a shitload of money so I decided to get away with it a bit cheaper.
Also, I'm going to share with you how I did it, how much time it took from me and what you actually need for building your children their own teepee.
This took me 0€ to build, but to be fair we have just renovated our apartment from floor to the top so we have all kinds of wooden pieces still floating around our closet.

APRIL VIA INSTAGRAM

Time for a monthly Instagram round-up, right? April went by so quick, to be honest. Weeks seemed to go by in a blink of an eye and suddenly we were on May already. I'm pretty excited when it comes to the Instagram content for May and early June and I must say it'll be pretty Norway-ish haha. Whoopsie, although - why not to share all the pictures you want to share?
I've been thinking about posting twice a day so the whole month wouldn't be full of Norway and some content which is more from the moment would get shared as well.

BLOGGING GOALS | MAY 2018

AH, IT'S MAY. And it finally starts to feel like Spring already. The fact that it's May already, it means that our road trip to Norway is closer and closer. We're off to Norway this month, so my blogging goals are mostly guidelines for me than actual goals. Fuck it, that's what they're going to be the whole Summer haha.

SKYWHEEL | HELSINKI, FINLAND

One of my birthday surprises for J was that I booked our tickets to hop on to the ferris wheel called Skywheel, that's right next to the ship terminal Katajannokka. It was built there a few years ago and even though I'm not a fan of ferris wheels, (can't stand the heights or roundabouts) but I guess one 12-minute ride can't kill me right?

5 SERIES YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY WATCH | NETFLIX

IT'S TIME FOR NETFLIX SUGGESTIONS & oh boy, it has been a while since I've last done one. I love some good Netflix suggestions so please do & recommend me something to watch. In the meantime, here's what I recommend to you!

TWITTER & THE ”POSITIVITY BUBBLE”

Yes, you read it right. With this post, I'm probably very likely to poke a bear and wake it up from its hibernation but I believe this is an issue that needs to be opened up. It needs to be talked, as it effects on so many people and especially on Twitter. I can write one of these kinds of posts about Instagram too and what I think is twisted with it at the moment but today I'm writing about Twitter.

So let's talk about Twitter & the "positivity bubble", which by the way, is a term I created so I had a term for the issue I'm about to write today.

10 TODDLER MELTDOWNS

How do I feel that this post is turning itself into a series & offers a sneak peek to the world of living with a toddler? As we all know, toddlers can be a bit explosive at times (read: almost all the time) & they pull a tantrum from pretty much everything. Here are 10 reasons why my child had a meltdown.

OUR TOP TIPS FOR KEEPING THE TODDLER ENTERTAINED IN A CAR | WITHOUT ELECTRONICS

If you're anything like I am, you are not comfortable with giving an iPad to your children as a first thing that makes them happy on a long car journey.
I actually am not comfortable giving my kid any electronics at all, we even control how much D can watch TV throughout the days.

CHILD FAIR | 2204-240418 @ HELSINKI, FINLAND

PHEW, what a weekend we're having behind of us. I'm actually really looking forward to the next one, as it's the last chill weekend before our travels. Although, I'm not here to tell you about our travels. I'm here to tell you about the Child Fair which was held at the Messukeskus Helsinki last weekend. And I also managed to drag my dear friend Petra with me, so it was twice as fun!

5 INSTAGRAM FEEDS YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY CHECK OUT

It's been a while since I've shared some of my favourite Instagrammers over at the blog so I decided that this time (instead of doing it on my Instagram stories) I'd share 5 Instagram feeds you should definitely check out. Not to mention my own as I might or might not be very proud of it at the moment.

JUNIOR SUITE | CLARION HOTEL HELSINKI

So, this is what I got J for his birthday - night at the hotel. And holy crap that hotel room, suite was amazing. I booked us one-night stay at Clarion Hotel Helsinki, which is the new hotel in Jätkäsaari. It was definitely a worth of the splurge, considering that the night in this suite cost 296€.

PLANE SPOTTING | HELSINKI AIRPORT

My son is such a fun little creature. He's obsessed in planes & dogs which of both, fortunately, is around way more than I expected when we moved to our new flat. We're living on the route of aeroplanes & every other neighbour seems to have a dog.

Whichever D happens to see, he starts screaming like a little fangirl (which kind of worries me, considering that our Airbnb host in Norway has two dogs, that will be interesting) from the bottom of his lungs.

BRING IN THE SPRING WITH FRESH FLOWERS

SPRING IS IN THE AIR!
We bought some fresh flowers to cheer up our kitchen? I must admit, now when the Spring has truly kicked in I feel so energised. I could honestly take on the world! I have no clue what this burst of motivation is that is driving me, but gosh I could've used it earlier this year.

POSTCARDS FROM HELSINKI, FINLAND

So, if you're wondering what the hell was that radio silence that has been over at the blog for the start of the week I have no explanation for that. Nor that I even need one. I just didn't feel like posting and I kind of wanted to have a tiny Spring break. And especially now when I'm not writing my content that far forwards, I didn't even manage to come up with any post ideas for Monday and Wednesday.

10 x GRATEFUL | OH, THESE COSY SUNDAY MORNINGS

HAPPY SUNDAY LOVELIES!
Currently, I'm in the middle of Helsinki, enjoying ah, the hotel bed morning - can't wait to share all about my little gift for J for his birthday. So the fact that I've been to the hotel, on my way to enjoy a lovely hotel breakfast made me thinking how grateful I am for life at the moment. So amongst the living, I'm sharing 10 other things that I'm grateful at the moment.

MY TOP TIPS FOR TIME-MANAGEMENT

Time-management is a funny thing, either it's something that's built in you or it's something that you need to learn. All of us need some sort of experience of managing their own time at some point in our lives, whether you're living with small children or just have your calendar booked to the moment it might actually explode from all the things to do.

MARCH VIA INSTAGRAM

Whole March just flew by, straight in front of my face and I don't really know did I accomplish anything. Oh well, I did apply to the school for the 4th time so I guess that was one of my biggest accomplishments but seriously, feels like I didn't have time to do anything last month. It just flew by.

D HAD HIS FIRST FEVER

I've been dreading this moment, dreading the moment when my gorgeous happy baby, excuse me, toddler boy will get his first fever. I don't know why, but the combination of small children and fever is something that makes me personally uncomfortable. They cannot speak so they can't tell you what they want, what they need and how they are feeling. I guess that's what creeps me out the most.

BLOGGING GOALS | APRIL 2018

The Spring Fling is finally arriving in our household after another flu/fever thingy and after several sun rays we have had here in Finland I'm feeling more motivated for everything than ever. It's funny what the sun can do, to be honest. Also, I'm pretty sure that the fact that I'm not on the essay writing duty anymore & I got it sent out just in time (waiting for the results now!!) might have something to do with this sudden burst of the need to write a bunch of new blog posts. So here I am, exhausted but refreshed. Let's roll on to another month of blogging goals.

OUR KITCHEN | BEFORE & AFTER

I'm going to have to start this post by saying that our kitchen is far from finished yet. Yet, it has had a transformation that is clearly to be seen by the eye, so that is the main reason I'm already posting about it. Also, the things we need are the new dishwasher (not that the one we have now wouldn't work, but because it doesn't fit in our kitchen colour scheme at all). And also, we need the cover between the floor and the kitchen cabins. So those two things are on our to-do list and I believe in few months we'll get this thing ready. Let's move on to the transformation!

POTATOES & CURRY SAUCE | MY CHILDHOOD FAVOURITE

& one of my biggest pregnancy cravings. I've been eating so many potatoes and curry sauce lately I've started wondering if I'm pregnant again. I'm not supposed to be but who knows. I'm not pregnant. I just love potatoes and curry sauce. And guess what? This is going to be by far the easiest (& the cheapest) recipe I have ever shared over on this blog. Guys, we're making history over here. Also, why am I writing when I'm super tired?
