OUR MORNING ROUTINE

A little disclaimer: not all of our mornings go like this, but most of them do. Oh and this is basically D's morning routine because he pretty much is ruling here (not in the proper meaning of the word). But as a mum, I can't schedule everything my baby does so these aren't the exact times - these are the times we usually do these things. Haha, and trust me, D is pretty hard to be scheduled. He gets it from his mother.

6-8 AM - D wakes up and I'm picking him up from his room and bring him to our bed. I'll feed him there and if I'm lucky he'll fall asleep again. If he doesn't we're still spending an hour or two playing there for a little while and cuddling. Baby cuddles are the best, especially in the mornings. And I'm pretty slow when it comes to mornings.

7-10AM - We move to the kitchen and I place D to his feeding chair where he patiently (not really) waits for his porridge which I may or may not get ready at the first time. Making porridge is so hard when you have to learn it by snapping your fingers, you've never eaten it and you've got no clue how it's done. I can cook basically anything but porridge is my worst enemy. Ah, this is the moment I'm drinking my morning coffee.

8AM-12PM - We're playing, eating, changing diapers and well, chatting. Doing stuff. Sometimes D plays alone on the floor whilst I'm doing the dishes. Basic home things to do. Changing clothes.

11AM-1PM - D takes his first nap usually at this time (it's hard to tell, that kid sleeps when he wants during the days. Might be that he won't be falling asleep at all) so I pack him to his stroller and we go out for a walk. He takes his first nap of the day outside and when we come home and if he's still sleeping I push him to the balcony so he can "sleep outside". Not going to do that if there will be -30°C this Winter but I don't see why he couldn't be out with little cold temperatures. He's got clothes on anyway. If he's going to take a second nap during the day he's sleeping on our bed in our bedroom. That's his favourite spot to take naps and I don't blame him - that bed is so comfy.

So, here it was - our simple morning routine. And this is for the days we're not going anywhere before J comes home from work.
What kind of routines do you have?

  1. Ahh the first thing of the morning sounds exactly like ours! I hate morning so when Oliver wakes up really early we hope he'll come into bed with us to sleep a little more. The days he doesn't we like to play and have cuddles in bed too :)

  3. I think my routine is harder than yours, i mean spending time with your precious baby and not having to catch any work deadline sounds a little bit easier and more like a pleasure as well. He grows so fast by the way!

  4. Thanks for sharing. Since I don't have a baby my routine is quite easy. I get up around 7-8:00, shower, coffee - then breakfast, which is really important to me! I can't leave home without a proper breakfast! :)

  5. Living by D's routine would definitely keep you on your toes! I'm usual up at 5.30-6ish, quickly get ready and walk to the 6.48 train. I get into the city around 8.15, and pick up a coffee before heading into work at 8.30. I prepare my breakfast and eat it slowly over an hour or so while I'm moderating social media accounts. Alternatively I'll be in meetings, but after that it's a busy morning filled with reporting/ideation/content planning ☺️ X

  6. Love this sweet morning routine. Mine is much different with no baby in tow (although my cat is pretty needy in the mornings, haha!).

  7. My routine is pretty much centered around my puppy & work. 8 am I get her up we go on a walk until 9 then I start work and feed her. She naps at 11:30 and 4 and eats again at 6. When I can during the day I blog and all night I tend to blog work.

  8. today i was day dreaming about what it would be like to have my own baby and i was not realistic like this lol. I forgot that they sleep after meals and need constant attention lol.
If you had another kid do you think your morning routine would be hectic ??

    1. Haha, they do need a lot of things. It might be, or it might be not. If our second one will be (in the wide wide future) as calm as D is mornings might stay same.
