6 MONTHS | DINO

Where is this time going? It feels like yesterday when I was pushing this little, oh, now so grown baby out of me but no, that happened 6 months ago. D turned six months yesterday and it's insane how time has flown.

In the 4th month update, I told how we had moved from clothed sized 68 to 74 and that has stayed that way. Though, 74 is the perfect fit at the moment so I don't think we'll go through the Winter in this size. That's why we picked up his snowsuit in size 80. Just to be sure it'll fit through the whole Winter. Gosh, it's Winter soon. Where has this whole year gone?

Dino has learnt smoothly to roll which ever way he decides to. From his back to his stomach and another way around. He has also gone forward a bit, especially if there's something interesting he sees and doesn't reach to it. Funnily enough, though, he doesn't realise it himself. If he did, he would be crawling around the apartment. So yeah, we're moving forward small amounts and D doesn't have a clue of it at all. We're talking about 20-30cm forward, not 5metres.

Grabbing is THE THING at the moment. And especially when it comes to electric wires (MacBook chargers, mostly) and my face. Or J's face. Basically any kind of face. He also gives tiny kisses. He pulls my face closer by pulling my hair and then he wants to eat my cheek. (Not real kisses I know but it feels less gross when you're thinking about it as a kiss than a 6-month-old licking your face like a puppy.)

We have practised sitting a little. Last time we visited the nurse she said that D is not quite ready to sit by himself yet, so we haven't done that a lot. He has to sit in his bathtub though because he's too tall to just lay down there. We've also practised sitting on the floor with a bunch of pillows but after he lost the interest to his toes since the last update, he finds the interest again whilst sitting. His face looks like "ooh, toes" and then he has to try and eat them.

D is eating! So far we've tasted a bunch of goodies, his favourites are sweet potatoes, cauliflower and chicken, porridge with blueberry puree and his least favourite is broccoli. We have tasted it so many times, many days in a row and it just doesn't go down no matter how I'm trying to place the spoon in his mouth. After the first spoonful.
He's also been having his own personal spoon strikes, which has been rather interesting. At the moment he's going through a phase that he just doesn't open his mouth to a spoon anymore. That's when the milk bottle comes along and I can sneak that spoon into his mouth when he's opening his mouth to the bottle. Brutal, I know. But it's not the food - he eats every single drop of it. He's never spat out anything (if you don't count broccoli) so I guess it's because of teething and the spoon just feels uncomfortable in his mouth or something. Who knows, babies are weird on so many different levels.

This brings us to teething. We have said good byes to sleeping through the nights. He wakes up to eat twice, usually at 11 pm and 3 am. Don't know if it's teething or something else, but I kind of miss my sleep already - I got used to it during these past couple months.

Night sleep brings us to napping, he doesn't. He just won't fall asleep most of the days. I've read some articles and stuff about napping and have tested different methods, he just doesn't sleep. Now I'd like him to sleep during the days at least for an hour altogether because he doesn't sleep so well at nights. But nope. There are days when he naps 3-4 times a day and days when he doesn't nap at all or just 30 minutes during the whole day. If he's super tired, he becomes super needy (which I completely understand and that's what babies do) but this is this super clingy, whining & needy baby which our little one has never been. Unless he's tired.

This past month must have been the one where I've seen the most changes to last month. We've taken such a huge leaps in growing up, eating actual food and almost moving forward - it's insane how much they grow in such a little time. I didn't personally hate anything about this month, I've been more than thankful to see my little one grow and go through different stages - physically and emotionally. This "job" takes a lot but it gives you so much in return that waking up at night, changing the poop diapers whilst almost throwing up and all the other nasty things make it so freaking worth it. I wouldn't change a day.
