DIY: NEW LOOK FOR IKEA MALM DRAWER

It's time to talk about my dear friend, dc-fix, once again. I like to do low budget changes around the apartment at the times, especially now when I'm basically spending most of my time home with the little one so I tend to get bored with way things look. That's basically the reason why I've dc-fixed most of our things here. And well, because dc-fixing stuff is cheaper than buying a new furniture.

We've got this Malm drawer from Ikea and it's been hanging around with us for quite a while now. It has seen it's better days and it has scratches all over it. What did I do? I dc-fixed it with a grey wooden pattern. It looks like new and hey, now we don't have everything white in D's room. Main colours in his room are light blue, white and grey so it fits the decor perfectly. I'm also a bit obsessed with grey things at the moment so finding that dc-fix was pretty convenient.

I'm also going to share D's full room later this year with you guys and I'm super excited. There are still a few finishing touches left, buying new curtains there for example so he can permanently move to his own room and sleep his nights there. Now, when it's summer it's not that dark and only dark curtain we own is in our own bedroom. Any suggestions where to find good curtains?

  2. Oh wow, looks cool! I've always been super lazy what comes to home decoration. I either shop new stuff or live with the ones I already have. I'm clad my fiancee is doing a bit better with our home. :D In one of my old apartments I lived almost 2 years without living room curtains because well, I was too lazy and didn't find them necessary - especially when I was never at home. Haha.

  4. DC-fix is amazing! Works with everything 👌🏻 I buy my curtains from H&M Home. They usually have pretty colorful ones but there is also curtains with just one color. Hobby Hall also has some good ones.

    1. I actually found ones! I've noticed with H&M curtains that most of them aren't blackout curtains & when checking Hobby Hall nothing really moved my stomach around so I'd wanted to buy them. I found ones from Tokmanni - haven't been there for ages :D but I'm glad I visited there with my mum last week :)

  5. It might sound really lame BUT I'm in love with those floors. I love hardwood floors and I wish I could have them in my home everywhere! Also, the drawer (of which I have a back version) looks really good. Good job missy!

  9. This is such a great idea to change things up a little - I also get bored when everything is the same for too long, so its a great way to have something different without spending lots of money!

  16. We have this unit too in our bedroom, my husband keeps his clothes in there and honestly, I would love to get rid of it and I totally relate to the getting bored of stuff because I do that all the time. I'm always very busy on Pinterest when it comes to interior dreaming...

This makeover is very clever, I like it. For curtains, I would try H&M or ikea. Ikea have some lovely sounds linen fabric too if you are handy with a sewing machIne. I am not but I watched a you tube video recently and managed to make a pair of curtains for my little boys room, I've put some pics of his makeover on my blog.
