DREAMING OF LABOUR | 39 WEEKS PREGNANT

HEY-OO, today we're 39 weeks pregnant.
There's only one week before the due date.

This is one of those posts I literally thought wouldn't go live. As a matter of fact, I had a different blog post planned for today - well, not so different, it was about dreaming of labour but then the faith got on the way and decided that I and my pregnancy brain wrote the post and successfully deleted it without even realising it until yesterday. So YAY, I'm so super proud of myself right now (sarcasm alert). There's also another reason why I thought this wouldn't go live.

PREDICTIVE SYMPTOMS

I've had a quite a few of those.
Or well, there's so many ways to see these things. Some pregnant women say that they didn't have any before they went to labour and some of them say that they had everything weeks before so yeah. There's also not any research results about what really starts the labour, but I love to juggle with the idea that it might be getting pretty damn close soon.

contractions
Last week I had painful contractions, I mean, super freaking painful.
They've been here since then, but there's nothing regular yet which means that they're just painful Braxton Hicks or something, god knows what but I needed a painkiller. Sadly, that painkiller helped and a few nights ago when I had a promising feeling that this is going to be it, well - it wasn't.
But I felt like my pelvic, stomach, back and hips were going to explode.

nausea
I've been ridiculously nauseous lately. Especially during the evenings, nights and mornings. Yeah, it seems to be all part of the deal but I like to imagine it might have something to do with the fact that labour is just around the corner. It might not have anything to do with it, but I read from the forum that pretty many were nauseous before going to labour. Although, this my thing has been going on for several days now so I believe my nauseousness doesn't have anything to do with upcoming labour.

 period-a-like feelings
I've had these feelings for a couple of weeks. It basically feels like the morning when your period is about to start when your lower back and lower stomach is on fire. Just me? Okay.

bye-bye insomnia
I've been sleeping incredibly well throughout the whole weekend. I don't know what this means but I'm enjoying it as long as I possibly can.

nesting
Nesting is strong at the moment. I've washed all the baby clothes, organised the diapers, cleaned or well, organised our apartment. I actually believe that this nesting thing affects to my husband also, he's been going just as nuts as I have lately.

I've lost my appetite
There are times when I could eat a horse and nowadays when that feeling creeps out - I'll definitely eat. Why? Because I've lost my appetite. Thanks to nausea and the fact that my stomach is a mess at the moment, I've taken advantage of every little moment when I'm actually able to eat something. Being hungry, nauseous & pregnant is not a good combo.

Okay, let's cut the crap.

I really don't think these are real symptoms about anything, to be honest. I mean, when you're 39 weeks pregnant and waiting for your little one to arrive you can't stop yourself listening to every little thing your body does or feels and then you probably end up searching what it could mean from Google. At the middle of the night, ending up with the feeling that this is it, I'm going to labour soon.
For some reason, that's how the human mind works. You wait and wait and wait and wait until you're literally too tired to wait anymore and you can't wait for something to happen. I personally believe that the baby comes when he's ready. There's no tricks and symptoms that could tell or speed the process. If there was, I'd probably had this baby already.

If there could be one that has done something, it might've been the first symptom I've had. I mean, painful irregular contractions are something that is doing something down there. Or so I've heard from the nurse. It can also be, that they don't really do anything - but they're more likely to do something. Who knows, maybe the little one comes out tomorrow, today or 3 weeks from now.

We're having a new maternity clinic appointment on this Wednesday. And yeah, like the nurse said - we might have a baby when we go there. Well, as an extremely superstitious person like me, I'm pretty sure she jinxed the whole damn thing.

This week I haven't been as tired as I was a couple weeks back which is such a relief. But more I sleep, less my brain seems to work. I've been so out of this world the whole week. Living in my little pregnancy bubble.

Let's do a little poll for the end, when do you think this baby will be born? Guess the date & time in the comments down below and let's see who gets closest!

  18. Unfortunately from experience it's always those who think the baby will be early that end up being late, Sod's law I guess? I know it happened to me (or would have done if I didn't have to be induced on due date)... hope the baby comes soon for you, the waiting game is horrible! x

  19. 3rd March (god knows why!). I had period like feelings for the last few weeks of my pregnancy, it's such a tough time as you try and convince yourself that labour is coming! I became obsessed with checking my underwear for signs!!!!! Good luck with the last few days, hopefully its nice and soon for you! x

  20. I hope everything goes well when it does happen! All my girls were early and I remember being pregnant with my 3rd wishing that I would actually go overdue so I could experience the 'being fed up' feeling. I didn't in the end, and she was born at 26 weeks (impatient like her Mum)
Hope you don't have to wait too long - I guess the 1st March around 4am. x
