DOCTOR’S APPOINTMENT & MATERNITY CLINIC VISITS | 38 WEEKS PREGNANT

Today, we're 38 weeks pregnant.

There has been a lot going on lately. Or well, not lately - but very recently. Stuff that I haven't had time to mention about before. Let's start with our second doctor's appointment.

26th of January, second doctor's appointment

At the end of the January, I went to see a doctor. I was on pregnancy week 35+4. The experience was as interesting as the first one we had last Autumn and yeah, I'm not really enjoying those appointments. You would imagine you'll get used to the fact that there's always someone who is going to push their fingers inside of your private parts, and yeah - I wasn't able to find a better way to describe it. I just don't really enjoy it, but once again I chose to have unprotected sex, wanted to get pregnant so those kinds of things just come in the same package. It doesn't make it feel okay, though.

The doctor was super friendly and talkative. She asked if I had any questions about anything, she told me stuff I already knew and what I didn't know. Although, she was super careful when she was checking the position of the baby and monitoring his heartbeat. She wasn't able to find the heartbeat first, but as it turned out, she had that thing 2cm in the wrong position haha.
Also, during the internal examination, she said that she was able to feel his head which kind of creeped me out a little. Not the fact that she was able to touch his head, but the fact that someone has already touched our baby and he's not even out yet.

Otherwise, everything was fine, except that I needed to measure my blood pressure multiple times just to be sure if I was feeling nervous or was it just high. I was just feeling nervous, so nothing was wrong there.

What I was hoping for this appointment was that the doctor would have said that the baby can pop out at any minute, but as it turned out I was still closed and there was 2cm left on my cervix. But then again, I have to admit that my hopes were a bit too high because I'm a first timer and with first timers usually it takes time. That was a little disappointing, but then again I hope that the internal examination irritated my cervix enough so stuff will start happening soon.

10th of February, our 7th maternity clinic appointment

We had the first appointment with the new nurse a couple of days ago. She was really nice, way nicer than the nurse we had before. She also had a nursing student over there, so after asking if I was fine with having the student there they started working. I was okay with the fact that there was a student. The student took us in, measured my weight - got a bit worried and wanted to consult our new nurse, measured my blood pressure (which was a bit high) and when I got to the table there were two people touching my bump. Actually, at first it kind of felt strange to have two people examine my bump at the same time but then again I've got two opinions about the situation of my bump, so after all, I feel a whole lot more confident with all the information I received.

Everything was fine, the baby had his head down. And oh boy, he had dropped a lot. When the nurses were trying to find his head, they noticed that he had almost engaged. His head was still moving, but very little which means that he's almost there. We listened to his heart beat and it's still my favourite part of those appointments. At the moment, it's the only thing that makes me relaxed and feeling like everything's going to be fine with him and he's going to be healthy. Even though he kicks and all, but I just feel more comfortable after I've heard that there's still something alive if you know what I mean.

We're having our next maternity clinic appointment on 22nd of this month and the nurse said that she feels pretty confident that the next time we see each other, we're having the baby with us. That would be so wonderful, to be honest. Although, now I kind of feel that she cursed the bump and the baby decides to stay in as long as he can. Who knows, I've been walking up and down the stairs and I've been in the sauna for every night this past couple of weeks. Maybe those mild, but pretty painful/uncomfortable contractions, have done something down there. Fingers crossed that he decides to get out soon!

So how I've been feeling lately? Heavily pregnant.

I'm so ready to pop this baby out at any minute. I mean, I've tried almost everything from walking up and down the stairs and washing the car. I literally washed the car a few weeks ago, all by myself. Well, J was there and he washed one side of the car because he thought I needed a break from that physical activity. I've also been so very tired. Why so? Because I don't sleep at night.
I've fallen asleep at 4:30 am each morning and I wake up when J gets home from work. It's like my day and night routines have reversed. It's so freaking insane. The baby itself doesn't make me uncomfortable during nights, I just can't get any sleep when I try. Don't know if this is my body preparing for those sleepless nights, but it sucks. It sucks the life out of me.
I'd rather take that waking up each night multiple times for a night feed for this no sleep at all season anytime.

Well, not for long anymore. I hope.
