5 THINGS I DON’T LIKE ABOUT CHRISTMAS | BLOGMAS DAY 2

Well, hello there!

As you can see from the header of this post, this post is going to be exactly what you think
it is. 5 things I don't like about Christmas. It's not the Christmas eve, though, despite the
catchy click-baiter header, it's about Holidays in general.
I thought this would be a fun way to kick off this Blogmas thing this year properly & don't
worry guys, I haven't completely lost it - I'm going to list twice as much of things about why
I love Christmas as much as I do later this month.

#1 GIFT SHOPPING

I've got a hate-love relationship with Christmas gift shopping. It can
sometimes be so stressful and it's taking a hell lot of money to commit.
Imagine yourself at the shop not knowing what to buy for your beloved
one or your family, a total disaster.

#2 GOING TO FOOD MARKET A DAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS EVE

Christmas Eve is the day when shops are closing their doors for a couple
of days. It's a total disaster. People are running aimlessly around the food
market, trying to fill their carts as full as they can and be the first ones on
the cash line. That's bloody annoying to fight over that last box of chicken
when you know that the person who you're fighting it for has already 4
packages in their cart.
Okay, that was a bit overstatement, but things do get crazy at the food stores
around the Holidays.
It's absolutely insane.

#3 WHEN EVERYTHING IS AROUND SPENDING MONEY

Christmas is all about spending money nowadays. People need to get
everything they can & they have to spend everything they have to make
their close ones happy. Why so? When did spending time with your family
with well-thought gifts got forgotten? When did those board games & good
company for dinner got forgotten? That's all I ask. I hate how commercial
Christmas has got.

#4 FOOD

I absolutely hate Christmas food. Can't I be the only one right? Please don't
say that I'm the only one. I've always been picky about everything I put in
my mouth, so that might be one of the reasons amongst the fact that I don't
eat meat at all why I don't really care about Christmas food. I love to have
dinner with my family, but I leave all those casseroles and stuff for them to
eat. Thanks, but no thanks.

#5 KNOWING THAT THERE'S A PLENTY OF CHILDREN &
FAMILIES WHO CAN'T AFFORD ALL THESE CHRISTMAS
THINGS

I mean, there's families who can't afford to have a tree in their home.
There are families whom Christmas dinner is the mac & cheese.
There are families whom children can't have gifts for Christmas when everyone
else is hyping their new iPhones and things over at the social medias.
There are families who just can't have it all. I absolutely hate that.
Maybe I'm over thinking this, but it's a real thing and if you possibly can
- imagine yourself for buying a present this Christmas for a kid who's not going
to receive any. There's plenty of charities during Christmas and doing the good
thing around Holidays, makes you feel so much better.

Is there anything you don't really like about Christmas?

  1. I agree with everything except the food. I love Christmas food, but we have different Christmas menu in Czech. ;)

  2. This is actually so important, especially the last point. It's easy to get caught up in material goods and being disappointed when we can't have everything imaginable on Earth that we want, but there are plenty of people who don't even have the fraction of what we are privileged enough to enjoy. It's sad and the holidays can be a really hard time for families of a lower income. I think sensitivity and kindness are the most important in terms of holiday spirit!

  3. Very valid points, Jasmin. And yes, it's all on money nowadays and I hate to generalize. I'm still optimistic that there are still families and groups out there enjoying Christmas with board games and drinking hot chocolate.

  4. I do think that Christmas has gone all commercialised now and it is all about spending a whole lot of money for your loved ones, maybe it is because we all have busy lives now that people think buying expensive items makes up for the lack of time spent? Then after Christmas is the sales for you to spend even more money :)!

I do feel sorry for people who have very little so I've been adding a couple of food items for the food bank every time I've been shopping.

    1. It's awful to think about that relationships are tried to fix by buying expensive gifts, that's so wrong :( Happy to hear that you're adding things for the food bank :)

  5. Hi dear, these post is really fantastic. I'm totally agreed of all what you wrote here. I love Christmas but some of them that all with have to spend money in many ways, theres is absolutely can be stressy too after Christmas. Specially when I saw nowadays in some social media, expensive gift for their partner is more valuable than anything. How cruel is that. Wish you have a nice second Advent this weekend.

  7. I totally get you on the "why does Christmas revolve about money" part. A long time ago I started asking everybody in my family/friends to not buy any gifts for me. I will usually buy something nice for my loved ones, something like a flower bouquet, some chocolate, send some postcards. I love having sweet details and I absolutely hate getting money or getting presents - I just feel it creates clutter in my life and it's so unnecessary!!

I hope we will all contribute - both on Christmas and the rest of the year - so that those that have less are able to have a nice, warm holiday with their loved ones.

    1. Yeah, whenever someone asks me what I want for Christmas I usually reply with "nothing" or "I really don't know" because if I'm asking for something it's a thing I really do need haha :D and if I need something, I usually buy it myself :D

  8. I totally agree on the 5th one. The rest is usually a love-hate relationship but love part usually prevails :D also, I love love love Christmas food! at least things we have here and what my grandma makes :)

  10. I totally agree with you on all of the points except the one about Christmas food. And I feel you regarding the money and gifts craziness. Christmas is about being together with your loved ones and about being thankful for all that we have got...

  11. I agree with most of these things, especially the money part! So many people are suffering and struggling to make it through the month and then there's people throwing around piles of money to put some gift wrapped boxes under a tree.
