5 PLACES I NEED TO VISIT THIS SUMMER | FINLAND

Oh sweet country I call home. Last winter I decided that I have to make a change and
start visiting different places here in Finland a bit more often. I'm not going to say any
of these places in the list are new to me, but most of these are ones I have been but not
for a really long time.
Okay, enough blaablaas and more lists!

Yyteri Beach, Pori
#1 YYTERI BEACH, PORI

This was one of my favourite places when I was a child. We used to go there with
my mom & grandpa and when I was a teenager I went there with friends. It was the
place where you actually feel that you've traveled far away (because the bus trip or
just driving actual car takes so long to get there but it's worth it) to somewhere where
you feel like you're on a beach vacation somewhere else than in Finland.
This is a caption from VisitFinland.com website:

"The sandy beaches are several kilometers long, with a soft, shallow bottom. A host of
activities is available, such as surfing, beach volley ball and various other water sports.
Towards the end of the summer, the water temperature is a comfortable 20 degrees Celsius
or more. In the summer, the beach life at the Yyteri cape, at 250 km from Helsinki,
is very active, with holiday makers arriving from all over Finland as well as abroad.
There are many different accommodation options: tent, caravan, hotel and many types
of holiday homes; from modest cottages to brand new, luxurious villas that accommodate
up to 10 persons."

They also say that Yyteri is a best place for surfing in Finland. I've never tried that
because when I think of surfing I think about huge waves, haven't seen those there like,
never.
Check out the website and you'll be stunned.

Pori
#2 PORI

Pori is a a city located in Western-Finland and it's population is approximately 76 000
people. It's located by the sea and yeah, Yyteri is there too.
This is my hometown. I was born there, I was living there for the several years of my life
and I really do like the city.
The city is beautiful with all the lovely buildings.
Fun story from my childhood, my mom said that when I was about 5-years-old and we
were walking through the city I was able to recognise all the statues from the way and
I was also able to tell her who was the artist behind of them.
I have nothing else to prove about this than my moms story & the fact that I do know
names to all of those statues and who have made them. Odd.
Pori is also know from annual summer jazz festival called Pori Jazz. Want a sneak

#3 KUUSAMO, LAPLAND

Do I come across as a bad finn when I say that I've only once visited Lapland? We
visited J's grandparents in Kuusamo for 3 or 4 years ago in Winter.

I had three things that I expected to see:

1. Reindeers, because I had heard that they're true road blockers if they want and there's
plenty of them. I did not see a single reindeer, anywhere. So now that we're planning to
visit there this summer, J promised me that he will take me to see reindeers if they're not
running around free or be a road block for us when we drive there.

2. Northern lights, I knew that it wasn't cold enough for see those in late March but I still
wanted to keep my hopes up. Well, I didn't see those and I'm not going to be able to see
those in Summer but maybe next time when we're going there in Winter.

3. Snowy trees, you know like those ones that are full of snow. Ones that have so much
snow that they look like they can't handle it anymore. Can't see those in Summer either
but maybe when we visit there next time in Winter.

But Kuusamo, freaking awesome.

#4 LAKE OF BODOM, ESPOO

This is a place I've never been but always wanted to visit. In the picture this lake seems
so beautiful but well, I'm a bit freak so real reason I want to visit there is because of the
murders that took place there in 1960.
I've been always interested these kinds of things like in a exploratory point of view, so
this would be amazing place to visit. And it's pretty close where I live now so, weekend
camping trip? Anyone?

#5 HANKO, SOUTH-WEST FINLAND

I come across as a bad finn again, but I've never visited in Hanko either. It's so close,
only 130km away and we made plans that we will visit there this summer.
One day trip, I think that's enough.

lots of love, Jasmin.

  12. This looks amazing! Pori is so beautiful and I love that color yellow in your picture. And that Lapland picture is stunning too. I've spent one night in Helsinki, Finland and the most exciting thing that happened was that I saw a wild rabbit. But I look forward to visiting the country again some day!

    1. Hahahahah, yea, we do have plenty of wild rabbits running around Helsinki for some unknown reason. I mean, there's so much of them! I can't believe that they survive so good with the traffic and all :D
